How Dreams Quest Creates a Play-To-Earn Metaverse

Dreams Quest creates a true play-to-earn experience in a metaverse (we call it the dreams verse) where players can explore and earn in an RPG-style exploration by being a part of different realms, completing quests, competing in battles to reach the final epic battle for a chance to raid the Dragon’s lair.

First Things First

The Dreams Quest metaverse seeks to create an inclusive environment combining the best of the traditional gaming world and fusing it with some of the most essential aspects of blockchain and token utility to create a dynamic and exciting game experience. Some of the most notable features are:

• Free-to-play — To create an inclusive and permissionless gateway for everyone to experience a unique gaming experience at its finest, the DQ metaverse is designed as free-to-play for everyone to easily get started. Players will get a starter pack and then be able to go on tutorial quests to learn the game and find some valuable loot and coins.
• Play-to-earn — The DQ dreamsverse seeks to create value in the virtual world. It is designed to provide several engaging ways for players to participate and earn from exploration to battles to setting up their own shops within the metaverse.
• Dynamic NFTs — The game cards (NFTs) are dynamic. In other words, the card attributes can change over time depending upon a number of factors. More importantly, the history of each card is recorded on the blockchain.
• Unpredictable situations — Unpredictable factors such as wind, rain, storms, and temperature conditions will affect the card attributes and, in turn, can affect a player’s in-game strategies for gameplay. Nothing is set in stone in the DQ dreamsverse.

The Dreams Quest Deck

In season 1 of Dream Quest, there are two realms, seven land areas, and a number of races from across the realms. There are two major aspects to the game

RPG Exploration and more — Players can explore the lands, participate in quests, events, and tournaments. As players explore, they will have opportunities to find new items and even some coins. There will be a number of quests to allow the players to solve various puzzles and mysteries. And while picking up items, just be aware that your inventory is always limited so you may have to drop some items to pick up the new ones you find.

Card Play Battles — In-game battles, players must strategically select their card deck to use in player vs. player battles. Players can also participate in tournaments for a winner takes all. There will also be a leaderboard so that players can push themselves to reach the top for the chance to win even more.

The Play-To-Earn Factors

There are many ways in which players can play-to-earn in the DQ dreamsverse.

• Quest-Based Earnings

Players can go on a variety of quests in Dreams Quest to wander around and experience new places. With these quests, players can win new items, cards, and coins. The quests allow players to forge new items, combine two items to create a unique piece, upgrade existing items, receive new loot, and more. The possibilities are endless.

• Battle-Based Earnings

Each battle that a player participates in will result in rewards in the form of coins. To make it more interesting, players stand to earn extra coins if they’ve defeated a tougher or higher-ranked opponent. Each player will have a rating or score with a metric indicating how hard they are to beat.

In DQ dreamsverse, there are miscellaneous or magic cards that may alter the dynamics of every game battle to turn the tides to your advantage. The weaker may win and the strongest may fall if the miscellaneous cards are used at the perfect time to create the right impact.

• The Marketplace

For those players who wish to earn through marketplace activities, they can create their own shops and become a shopkeeper. A player for example can become a blacksmith to forge, buy, sell and upgrade items from players. They can create their own shop to make items more valuable or to buy them cheaper and sell for a higher price.

So to take the dreamsverse to a whole new level, players can transcend from the physical world to the digital one to run their shops. We’ve taken this a step further to enable buyers and sellers to engage in ways that haven’t been done before.

Here’s a sneak peek of how we envision this works:

A player just earned a new potion by participating in a quest. The player now decides to sell that item in the marketplace. Meanwhile, another player, direly in need of this potion, decides to visit this verified merchant and buy the potion as he moves all set to face the dragon. Meanwhile, the merchant can buy the potion at a lower price and sell it with some profit to a buyer. Endless possibilities for those with a bit of imagination.

• Rental NFTs

Imagine this! What if a top professional gamer or Twitcher were to rent your card deck from you? Now imagine your cards are temporarily written showing this celebrity owning your cards. Remember how we mentioned using the blockchain to store historical data?

Well, now the history of your NFT cards will show that this famous Twitcher was an “owner” of your cards and suddenly your cards may become more valuable or a collectible item.

In the DQ metaverse, NFT cards can be rented out to others. Players can rent their cards to other players and subsequently earn from the game results and for loaning out their cards too. To enable this to work successfully, smart contracts on the blockchain are used to ensure that the swapping of the cards is automated and recorded on-chain. How cool is that?
